Chlorine is an extremely volatile chemical used in natatoriums, swimming pools and water parks as a sanitizer, disinfectant and oxidizer. It is a highly corrosive gas that can deteriorate all kinds of material like steel (including Stainless Steel 316L). Keeping the pool user safe is a complex balance between treating the water with Chlorine without causing problems for health, hygiene, and equipment. Plastec’s corrosion-resistant fans/blower are designed to resist the harsh environment created
by chlorine and other corrosive chemicals used in natatoriums. The ventilation blowers below are specifically designed to offer the maximum amount of protection against chemicals and corrosion. Constructed from polypropylene, a thermal plastic, they are inherently corrosion, chlorine, UV, and humidity resistant. This makes Plastec fans – blowers an ideal solution for indoor pools, hot tubs, chlorine rooms, and other areas where chlorine chemical fumes may collect.
Without a properly designed ventilation system and at the contact of body fluids like sweat, Chlorine becomes Chloramine gas and tends to stagnate over the water surfaces if the ventilation is not correctly engineered.
Besides removing these toxic and corrosive chemicals, ASHRAE recommends to maintain the room at 0.05-0.15’’WC negative pressure and to adopt a minimum of 4-6 volumetric air changes per hour.
If Chlorine gas is stored with other chemicals, it can become extremely explosive. In that case, it is a necessity to exhaust the air from the room or storage compartment.
That’s why PLASTEC offers for ALL its blowers an XP option. All the polypropylene components are impregnated with carbon, which increases the electrical conductivity to avoid sparks. All motors mounted with blowers are XP as well. With our XP products, no need to use an expensive aluminum or Stainless Steel blower.
